2040 mg in my Chicken Burrito Bowl from Chipotle

Just checked the nutrition facts on a chicken bowl and was blown away that it supposedly contains 2g of sodium. I'm surprised because it doesn't taste salty at all. I had no idea my standard Chipotle order contains more sodium than 2 packs of ramen noodles.Chicken, brown rice, black beans, pico, green salsa, corn, and cheese. That's all it takes for 2040 mg. Salsa and corn makes up more than half of it. None of those foods have much naturally occurring sodium, so Chipotle is adding 90% of that.I just got an idea of what 2g of sodium (1 tsp) looks like:https://ift.tt/2P33X4r make chicken and pico de gallo sometimes. And it uses a fraction of that. Like with a burrito bowl size portion, I would use maybe 500mg. And it tastes good- I have no idea why Chipotle uses that much, unless it's as a preservative.Chipotle was my favorite fast restaurant but I don't think that's the case anymore. Also this might explain why the older woman in front of me got a chicken bowl with only rice, beans, and cheese. So just thought I'd post this as FYI if you, like me, were also the assumption that Chipotle was relatively healthy.https://ift.tt/26bqLn4 via /r/HealthyFood https://ift.tt/2P0giq8
